Why I started the ‘Wu-Tang of hippy communities’ and will eventually go off-grid
Hacktivist vocalist Jot Maxi explains why he’s trying to live outside of the system, relying on the kindness and skills of strangers
2016 will be the year of the H! The rap/metal cross over mob are going in all guns blazing.
Hacktivist are hitting us with a triple whammy of news, as the rap-metallers confirm their debut album, release a new video and announce some intimate UK dates.
The five-piece from Milton Keynes will drop their eagerly anticipated debut album, Outside The Box, on March 4 through UNFD. On top of that the grime/tech metal cross over mob have unveiled a brand new video for latest single Buszy – scroll down to view it.
Talking about the new single, co-vocalist Ben Marvin said: “This song is about partying, tour life and dedication to our H team – living the life we want and not letting anything get in our way. Buszy In Milton Keynes is a place we’ve all grown up with. They used to put club nights on there and there’s also a skatepark. It also was used for community projects, but unfortunately it is being shut down by the council in another example of profit over people. We did the best we could to keep it going but our voices were unheard. We decided to name our song after it and get a video shoot booked in before it got shut down, so I want people to take away from it the fact that no matter what, you gotta do what you love and you gotta fight for what you believe in. No matter what or who is against you.”
Finally the band will embark on a small run of intimate shows in the UK at the end of February. Don’t forget to head to the Kerrang! Ticket Store now to grab a pair.
