The big review: Good Things Festival 2024
Sydney gets rocked as Korn, Loathe, Sleeping With Sirens and more take a noisy pre-Christmas trip down under…
YES.
The year of the supergroup continues!
We’ve already seen the emergence of Prophets Of Rage and Gone Is Gone this year, and now another supergroup has confirmed details of their debut. Giraffe Tongue Orchestra – a group comprised of Alice In Chains‘ William DuVall, The Dillinger Escape Plan‘s Ben Weinman, Mastodon‘s Brent Hinds, plus Dethklok‘s Pete Griffin and The Mars Volta‘s Thomas Pridgen – have today (June 20) confirmed their debut will be called Broken Lines and will be released on September 23 via Party Smasher Inc / Cooking Vinyl.
Speaking about the genesis of the band’s interesting name, Brent Hinds says: “During the time Mastodon was there for Soundwave, I was at the zoo in Sydney, Australia and was checking out the giraffes. They are amazing animals – one just grabbed a bunch of bananas from my hand with its tongue and peeled them with it as well – by the time the bananas got to its mouth, they were ready to be eaten. I saw Ben who was at Soundwave too and said, ‘Man I think I found the name for our band.’”
The album is available for pre-order now and limited edition GTO items and experiences, including autographed signature series guitars and lyric sheets, will be available for pledges here
Giraffe Tongue Orchestra will make their live debut at Reading And Leeds Festival in August – check out the latest line-up poster below:
