Holy Shit, Nebula's first album in 10 years, will be released this Friday. Hear the whole thing in its entirety now on Kerrang!.
SoCal stoner/desert-rock act Nebula was formed in 1999 by frontman/guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruban Romano when they split from Fu Manchu. They soon became a mainstay in the scene with albums released by Tee Pee, Man’s Ruin, Sup Pop, and Relapse, (and their 2003 record was produced by the “Godfather of Desert Rock” Chris Goss, who engineered many Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age records) but the heavy, fuzzed-out trio took a decade-long break in 2009. After 10 years of silence, the group recently signed to Heavy Psych Sounds (kind of serendipitous, considering their 2009 release was titled Heavy Psych), and are set to release their sixth studio album, Holy Shit, this Friday -- cementing the official debut of their new lineup with Eddie at the helm, Tom Davies on bass, and Michael Amster on drums.
Regarding the release, Tom tells Kerrang!, “Our new album Holy Shit is the fuzzy, drugged up result of our time away in the deepest, darkest recesses of the wilderness in the space time continuum."
Holy Shit begins with the track Man’s Best Friend -- a cheeky reference to Lucifer, naturally -- before launching into a heavy, psychedelic, nine-song rollercoaster. It’s the perfect sonic depiction of drugs, heat, and satanic daydreams, not to mention it pairs nicely with a joint and a couple of cheap tallboys -- everything a good desert rock album should be.
