Hopefully, by now, you'll have had the honour of attending a Frank Carter And The Rattlesnakes gig – a show like no other. If you haven't been so lucky, however, we've got good news: Kerrang! are premiering the band's incredible new live video for recent single Crowbar.
The clip, which was filmed during their recent intimate tour of the UK, perfectly sums up the energy, catharsis and sheer chaos that Frank brings live, while the track itself is already a Rattlesnakes classic. Crowbar is taken from their highly-anticipated third album, End Of Suffering, which is due out on May 3 via International Death Cult (pre-orders are available at this link).
K! recently caught up with Frank to find out about The Rattlesnakes' new album, with the frontman explaining Crowbar's mantra. “It’s very clear: if someone tries to put you in a box, then smash their fucking box up and just be yourself,” he said. “Crowbar is about trying to be able to live in this world where everybody is trying to tell you what you should do, what you should wear, how you should talk, what music you should listen to. Everybody is so obsessed with making things right for you that actually they ignore what you really want to do. Also, I think Crowbar is just the perfect [introduction], because the record’s quite heavy in lyrical content particularly, and this is one of those songs where it has a good statement, but it’s also not too bleak. We don’t want to break anyone’s heart just yet!”
Frank also spoke of his initial aims going into the making of End Of Suffering: “The intention whenever we write is to make a song that’s classic, and that means a lot to us. Music is our therapy, and Dean [Richardson, guitar] and I have got an amazing relationship where we trust each other implicitly in what we’re doing. For us, I guess we were trying to find ourselves a little bit. We’ve both been through quite a few changes in our lives, and Rattlesnakes has been one of the most positive ones, and the main thing we wanted to do was do justice to ourselves, you know? We wanted to find a way to really give back. Everybody has given us this amazing life: fans have been buying our records, coming to our shows, streaming our music. They’ve enabled us to have this life that we’ve always wanted, and so we just wanted to do a good service to them by putting out the best music we could. And it just happened that when we were writing, it was really relaxing and natural, and the collection of songs that you’ll hear is what came out. We’re really proud of it.”
