Don't Blame Maynard James Keenan For Tool Not Being On Spotify

If there's one thing Tool fans know, it's the struggle of not being able to stream any of their music legally.

In an age where CDs are considered old fashioned and pretty much the entirety of all music is available on your phone at the touch of button, Tool have never been included in the vast expanse of sound in the digital libraries of Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music, Deezer and any other streaming service you care to mention.

Even Taylor Swift gave up her boycott and allowed her music to be streamed on digital platforms, but the Californian alt-metallers are still nowhere to be seen. We don't know why, but we now know it's not vocalist Maynard James Keenan's fault.

In a brief Twitter exchange with fan Rich Williams, who complained about the lack of Tool available digitally, Maynard responded by saying he's "Squawking at the wrong tool".

It does indeed seem strange that Maynard would be the one holding back Tool's catalogue from the like of Spotify and Apple Music, as his A Perfect Circle and Puscifer projects are available on various platforms. So what gives?

Our money is on all Tool becoming available digitally in the run-up to their long awaited fifth album, giving every Tool fan exactly what they've been craving for over a decade in one digital hug. Or, they could continue to be That Band That Isn't On Spotify forever, to the confusion and annoyance of music fans everywhere.

What we do know, though, is that Tool have finally finished recording the new record. So whatever happens, there will be new songs coming our way soon (hopefully).
