California punk quintet Ceremony is back with brand new music. Their new single Turn Away The Bad Thing is available for streaming now, and it will be the first track on their next LP, In The Spirit World Now, out August 23rd via Relapse Records.
The song feels heavily inspired by bands like New Order and Depeche Mode, with dreamy synths and melancholic lyrics. The music video provides exactly the type of visuals you’d expect to accompany that sound -- abstract, colorful, passionate.
“We knew this had to be the best thing we have ever done," says lead guitarist Anthony Anzaldo about In the Spirit World Now. "We couldn’t come back after four years with a record that only had a few good songs. Not reflecting on the evolution of the band is what keeps us motivated. There is always a song we haven’t written, a band we haven’t played with, artwork we haven’t thought of. We are creators by nature, not by choice.”
