Queen Kwong shares Sad Man video featuring Johnny Knoxville
Watch the Johnny Knoxville-starring video for Queen Kwong’s ode to “the f*ckboys, the narcissists, the band dudes who think they’re all that”.
"Proof that I’m super special…"
Ahead of the release of new album Love Me To Death, Carré Callaway of Queen Kwong has written a detailed post about being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis – a genetic disorder affecting the lungs, pancreas, liver, kidneys and intenstine.
Read Carré's statement below…
Proof that I’m super special…
It was recently confirmed that I have Cystic Fibrosis. After being hospitalized in February and diagnosed with a disease called Bronchiectasis (causing scarring in my lungs), doctors brought up the possibility of the underlying cause being CF. And ta-da, they were right! Turns out that I am one of very few people in the entire country who is Asian and has CF. It’s a rare disorder in general, it’s extremely rare in Asians, and it’s rare to be diagnosed as an adult. I’ve always been told that I’m a “rare bird”... I’m not going to go into what exactly CF is, if you’re interested, you can Google it. It’s not the most glamorous disorder to have, and the average life expectancy for those with CF is currently around 40 years old. However, because I have a rare, mysterious form of it, there’s a great chance of me living longer. So, you likely have many more years of putting up with my noise! I just have to take extra precautions to not get sick. So traveling too much is not a good idea, neither is shaking hands or hugging (which is great, because I’m not a hugger anyway, and now people will actually have to respect that!). I was also told that my stage antics make it very easy to contract germs. So, it’s been suggested that I “tone it down,” but it’s also been suggested that I get rid of my cats. So, obviously, some things are just totally unreasonable and out of the question…But, I will be going full Asian, wearing a mask on the plane and at the merch booth at my shows. Making pictures with me all the more fun.
Thanks for the concern and patience. I’m sure you can understand the delay in answering your inquiries regarding my health, but, now you know. This should also explain why Love Me To Death’s release was delayed and why I’m not doing extensive touring right now. AND, this should make you really want to buy my record and make the extra effort to come to my shows, riiiight? I need your support and $$$ now, more than ever! Ya dig?
Wishing you all the best, Carré.
