Who are The Smashing Pumpkins’ fans?
As Smashing Pumpkins hit the UK for a summer of giant shows, we head to Halifax to meet their old-school fans and recent converts to find out why the music still hits like a bullet with butterfly wings…
Would watch.
In absolutely fascinating news, apparently The Smashing Pumpkins were originally offered the end credit song to Shrek (instead of Smash Mouth's legendary All Star).
As reported by Exclaim! (hey, nice exclamation mark, guys), frontman Billy Corgan took to his Instagram stories to reveal that the Pumpkins' 2000 jam Untitled very nearly made the cut as the final tune to the lovable 2001 movie.
What a world we live in…
Even more interestingly, Smash Mouth then replied to the news, debating: "Actually we said no and Michael Austin from Dreamworks kept calling. That went on for over a month. We assume multiple bands we're asked. If it feeds Billy's ego to think they we're first let him think that. Def would have been a darker approach."
Weird…
Just gonna leave this here anyway, because it's a banger.
