Bambie Thug drops new single Hex So Heavy: “A warning to those who have crossed me”
Watch the Suspiria and Lord Of The Rings-inspired video for Bambie Thug’s badass new single, Hex So Heavy.
Ouija-pop icon Bambie Thug will be heading to Sweden in May with their banging entry, Doomsday Blue…
Bambie Thug has been selected to represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, following a public vote on The Late Late Show Eurosong Special on Friday night.
The Cork-based artist won their place at the contest with the song Doomsday Blue, beating singer Isabella Kearney, rapper JyellowL (ft Toshín), fellow rock entrant Alisha, R&B singer Erica-Cody and Louis Walsh's latest boyband, Next In Line.
"I just believe that we need to send someone who can command a stage that big," they said ahead of their performance, "and I definitely can."
Following the show, Bambie said: "I don’t know how I feel – I feel incredible! My words are gone… as a lyricist you’d think I’d have more to say but I’m speechless – I’m so excited and I promise I’m going to do you so proud."
Check out the song below…
Bambie described Doomsday Blue as dealing with "being overlooked, about having your potential ignored". As a queer performer, they hailed 2014 winner Conchita Wurst for "open[ing] a lot of doors for people like me who are more of the obscure side of things. As a non-binary person I do represent a massive proportion of our country that is under-represented."
Bambie will head to Malmö, Sweden in early May for the semi finals, before – fingers crossed – sailing to victory in the final on May 11.
Ireland has a reasonable history at Eurovision. Until last year, they held the record for most victories, seven, a gong now held by Sweden. Go on, Bambie, win it back!
