Zambian-Canadian rapper Backxwash has announced details of her new album, Only Dust Remains.
Due for release on March 28 through her own Ugly Hag label, it follows the incredible trilogy of God Has Nothing to Do With This Leave Him Out of It , I Lie Here Buried With My Rings and My Dresses, and His Happiness Shall Come First Even Though We Are Suffering that starkly addresses Backxwash's (real name Ashanti Mutinta) struggles with identity in the shadow of her religious upbringing.
With lead single Wake Up, Backxwash hints at a new era for her brand of experimental hip-hop, exploring more melodic sounds and less all-out-war industrialism. Yet it's still not for the faint-hearted.
Ahead of the album release, another new track is scheduled for release in February. More live dates will surely follow, but for the time being you can catch Backxwash at one of the festivals below.
