Billy Corgan has announced that The Smashing Pumpkins will be releasing a very special sequel record to Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and Machina/The Machines Of God.
As the 25th anniversary of Mellon Collie… arrives (on October 24), the alt.rock titans have announced a 33-song album – expected to arrive next year – that completes a "trilogy", also featuring 2000 fifth LP Machina/The Machines Of God.
"It’s a sequel to Melon Collie… and Machina," explains the frontman in a new 10-minute video detailing the band's plans. "It’s kind of a rock opera. We feel like in many ways this completes the circle on everything we started and weren’t able to finish at that time, so we’re very excited about [it]."
