Mark Hoppus' text to his doctor is a reminder to get lumps checked

As blink-182's Mark Hoppus nears the end of his cancer treatment (according to former bandmate Tom DeLonge), the bassist has shared the very beginning steps of his battle, posting the first text exchange he had with his doctor regarding a lump in his shoulder. And it's a very serious reminder that we should all do the same when it comes to looking for warning signs regarding our health.

Back in April, Mark messaged his doctor writing, “Hi Jill. For the past couple days I’ve had this dull sore lump in my shoulder kind of right where it connects to my neck that could either be fatal lymphoma or a sore muscle. At what point should I be concerned and have it looked at?”

Jill responded that Mark needed to be seen immediately, with the musician then of course publicly announcing his diagnosis in June. In a follow-up story on his Instagram, Mark did a 'How it's going…' post, sharing a photo of himself during treatment.

In July, Mark confirmed that the chemotherapy for his diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma Stage 4‑A was working, though he still had a long fight ahead of him.

"Scans indicate that the chemo is working!" he wrote. "I still have months of treatment ahead, but it’s the best possible news. I’m so grateful and confused and also sick from last week’s chemo. But the poison the doctors pump into me and the kind thoughts and wishes of people around me are destroying this cancer. Just gonna keep fighting…”
