Architects frontman Sam Carter has revealed the he almost threw in the towel before his first-ever tattoo was even completed.

“I was probably like 17 or 18,” Sam tells Kerrang! in the latest episode of One Tattoo, One Story. “My friend did it in his bedroom. I got a tiny little heart on my ankle. I remember we got one half done and I was like, ‘I’m going to die’. I didn’t care, I was going to wear socks. But we finished it and wow, what a work of art.”

He also shares that his second tattoo was inspired by his love of blink-182.

“I got shit-faced and it felt like the biggest tattoo ever at the time,” he explains. “I remember being so drunk that I was sick while it was happening. Pretty cool.”

Architects will release their new album, Holy Hell, on November 9 through Epitaph.
